Location
The Ala Wai watershed is located in southeastern sector of the island of Oahu, and generally includes the area between Punchbowl Crater and Diamond Head Crater, from the crest of the Ko`olau Mountains to the nearshore waters. The watershed encompasses a land area of more than 16 square miles (approximately 12,000 acres), and includes the Makiki, Manoa and Palolo drainages, each of which drain to the Ala Wai Canal. The watershed also includes the Waikiki and Ala Moana neighborhoods, which drain to both the Ala Wai Canal and the nearshore waters.
